Thanks for posting and sorry for the delayed response.
By default, as soon as you've wired and setup your thermostat correctly, it should be always on. A few questions — what specific Nest thermostat it this? Are you not seeing any lights at all on it/ If yes, when did this start happening?
Please tell me more so I can dig deeper into it.
