Humidifier and Dehumidifier

Hello,

I have a Heat pump with backup gas furnance along with a standalone aprilaire fan powered humidifier and dehumidifier. Can the thermostat be configured to run the humidifier and dehumidifier independently and bring the fan on when humidifier / dehumidifier is running to move the air ? How many wires are required for the setup ?

Hi @NJHome,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I understand that your system includes a heat pump, a backup gas furnace, a humidifier, and a dehumidifier, and you would like to know if the Nest Thermostat can control these independently with the fan running and what wiring is required. I'm glad to share more information.

For a system like yours, the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th Gen) is the best choice. It allows you to manage settings such as A/C, heat integration, and fan activation.

  • The AQ+ and AQ- terminals accept 1-wire or 2-wire connections for VENT, HUM, or DEHUM.

For more details on compatibility and how to integrate humidifiers and dehumidifiers, please check this article: Nest thermostat compatibility.

Feel free to keep posting if you have more questions.

Regards,

Gabriela
