Humming noise

When my AC units kicks on, shortly after the outside unit makes a humming noise. It stops after a little bit but then will make it again every few minutes. It almost sounds like a timer going off on the unit.
I have updated software, restarted thermostat.m, turned unit on and off multiple times.

Hi Hterf,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat  do you have? You can visit this link to check what type of thermostat you have. When was the last maintenance check for your HVAC system? Is this the first time you are activating cooling since the season changed? Have you experienced any power outages within the last few days or weeks? Do you have a heat pump system?

Best,

Jenelyn

Hello,

My HVAC system was installed new in January of 2022.  This is the first time this season that I have tried to use the AC.
I have not had any power outages in the last few weeks and I do not have a heat pump.
I have natural gas for heat with forced air.
I have a google nest thermostat SN: 23231J3DB2JFX8

Hey Hterf,

Thanks for answering those questions. If the issue seems to fix itself after performing a power cycle to your HVAC system's power at the breaker switch, but then returns after a short while, the system may need maintenance. Installing an old thermostat if you have one may isolate the issue much further.

Thanks,

Jenelyn
