I don't see cooling option on nest thermostat

My existing thermostat had Red wire connected to Rc, White to W, Black to W2 and Green to C and in the nest i have done the same.
I have read somewhere that for cooling we need a wire connected to Y terminal. Where do i get this wire?
What is the best way to get cooling working along with heating?

@hungryape , please post the picture of you old thermostat so I can see which color wire was attached to which terminal. The W2 id designated as Stage 2 Heat.

@hungryape , I need you to go outside to your outdoor system and get me the model number. I need to see if you have a heat pump or not.
In order for a conventional or heat pump operate there must be a wire attached to Y. Perhaps they made a forced connection in the air handler

Hi @hungryape,

Thank you for posting in the community. I am truly sorry the cooling option isn’t showing on your thermostat, and thank you so much for sharing the pictures of your AC system and the previous wiring configuration on your old thermostat. It really helps to find a solution.

To assist you further, could you please share:

  • A picture of your Nest thermostat (just to confirm the model)
  • A picture of the base plate is needed to check the wiring configuration.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Ana.
