I've just had an Aprilaire dehumidifier installed in my home and my nest 3rd gen won't activate it

I've just had an Aprilaire dehumidifier installed in my home and my nest 3rd gen won't activate it unless the AC is also running.  I did see it activate in test mode.  Right now my basement is 75% humidity and the thermostat isn't calling for dehumidifier.  What can I do?

It all depends on how your system is wired up.  I have an aprileaire humidifier , however the way it was wired it just automatically comes on when the heat is on so the nest has no control of it. 

Saying this, depending on the dehumidifier, it probably does require the air conditioning to be on to run.  Which model do you have exactly?
