Install Nest Learning Thermostat

I hired an electrician to install a Nest Learning Thermostat in my home.  He did so, and the app indicated that the installation was good.  When we set the thermo to cool, the heat was activated and kept blowing.  The electrician reset the thermostat, but it continued to blow hot air.  I have a Nest Thermostat on my downstairs unit and it works without issue.  I've now spent good money on a Thermostat that is sitting on a table (and I'm not sure how to turn it off), and I've gone back to the old school Honeywell.  Any thoughts on why the Nest would activate heat when the thermostat is set for cool only?

Hey there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. I wanted to follow up and see if I could be of any help. If you have a heat pump system, you may need to change the wire configuration. I found an article with more details on that. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Best regards,
Jake

Thanks for the reply.  I do have a heat pump, but the electrician took this into account.  I have since returned the Nest Learning Thermostat + Sensor.  I've already spent enough on the electrician without a good outcome.  I am inclined to stick with my older non-programmable thermostat for now.  The cost of the Nest, along with the need for an electrician, is not only a high cost, but Google also does not adequately provide information on installation issues so that the purchaser can weigh the costs and risks of upgrading to the Nest.
