My router is offline and I am on vacation. Does anyone know if there is a default temperature that the thermostat is set at so my home doesn't go below 32°F ? The last setting was on ECO

Hi @Spuds1964,

Thanks for reaching out to the Google Nest Community. I'm sorry to hear that your router is offline and you can’t control your Nest Thermostat using the app; don't worry, help is here.

Before we continue, I have some questions:

What type of thermostat do you have?

Did you set the thermostat in Eco mode, or was it following a schedule?

Replying to your question, the thermostat has as default the safety temperature that will run during extremely cold or hot weather.

You can also take a look at the following article: Thermostat Safety Temperatures.

I’ll be waiting for your reply.

Best regards,

Derick.

It is the first generation learning Nest thermostat..I left it in ECO mode .. I did have friend stop by who was able to reboot the router and it appears to be working now. Of course with occasional power outages, it could happen again. My main concern is that if there was a default or not.

Hey there!

Thank you for your reply. Yeah, the Nest Thermostat has a default safety temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit unless you changed it during the setup. You can confirm the safety temperature in your Nest Thermostat following the next steps in your Nest app:

  • Open the Nest app.
  • Select your Nest Thermostat.
  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Safety Temperature.

I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,

Derick.
