Hello,

Recently purchased a learning thermostat and have yet to open it. I'm no electrical engineer so I'm hoping what I have will work or I might as well return it..  Can someone please help me out? Is this compatible?

I have wires for

-RH

-G

-W/E

your setup is not compatible. the google thermostats require a 'C' wire for power.  I would return it.

Would a different version on the nest thermostats work?

all nest thermostats require the C wire to operate.

There are two options. 1. Install a nest power connector.  2. Use G wire as C wire.  This requires switching the G wire to C terminal at the furnace.  You will lose the ability to control the fan independently.

Hello folks,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

I appreciate your assistance here. @Jimmy_J and @HLy.

@The_Bronze_Knee, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry to know if your system's compatibility with the Nest Thermostats. I'd love to help.

Based on the wiring, it's compatible with a Nest Thermostat. Make sure to follow the same wiring setup as your current thermostat's configuration. You can also check your system’s compatibility before purchasing a Nest Thermostat with our online Compatibility Checker. Feel free to let us know if you have more questions in mind.
