Learning nest thermostat won’t connect to nest app on smartphone

My learning thermostat is installed and working manually. 
My phone has added it as a product in the nest app.  
The thermostat says it’s connected to the WiFi. 
However the nest app says that the thermostat is offline and greys out the product I con.   Clicking on the icon it says “the thermostat can’t connect to WiFi because it isn’t getting power”. 
Any suggestions for how to troubleshoot this would be gratefully received!

Hi Mikepeet,

 

Thanks for reaching out and we're sorry for the delay.

 

Here are a few things to check for us to further isolate the issue:

  • Restart your Nest Learning Thermostat and your WiFi router.
  • Check if there's an available update for your thermostat. Check out this link to know more.
  • If you are using a Google account, you can use the Google Home app and add your thermostat.
