Learning thermostat taking long to heat

Nayeli
Community Member

Hi just installed the learning nest in 3 different locations one works perfect fine (2 wires on, heating only) the one we are primarily using takes for ever to heat. We do feel heat coming out of the base board heating but our prior heating thermostat didn’t take 1hour + to get 3degrees warmer.

The other one we use daily has no issues heats in a timely manner. Can someone else troubleshooting? Having found one here

Hi Nayeli,

Yikes! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the Nest thermostat in one of your locations. While I can provide some general troubleshooting suggestions, it's important to note that diagnosing and resolving specific heating performance issues may require professional assistance or a more in-depth understanding of your HVAC system. Please send us a photo of your previous thermostat wiring configurations and a photo of how you connected the wires to the Nest Learning Thermostat base. A few questions:

  • Does the thermostat screen indicate that it’s actively calling for heating?
  • What type of furnace do you have? (gas, electric, etc.)
  • When did heating last work?
  • Did the heating work with the previous thermostat?
  • Did you turn off the power to the HVAC system?
    • Did you recently turn off any breakers?
    • Have you recently experienced a brownout or blackout?
    • Is there a light switch near the heater that controls an outlet?
  • Did you select the correct fuel type?
  • Do the LED lights blink on the HVAC control board? If yes, locate the light.
  • When was the last time you changed the furnace's air filter?
  • Have you experienced extremely cold weather lately?
  • Is this the first notable temperature drop of the year in the area?

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe
