Linking nest thermostat to google home

Having issues linking Nest Thermostat to Google Home. We follow the instructions, scan the QR code, then it asks for the last 4 digits, but nowhere to put these on the next page or we get an error message about configuration. We have been able to link other non nest devices so not sure what we are doing wrong.

You're not trying to install a Nest Learning Thermostat in the Google Home app, are you? It gets installed in the Google Nest app (and then should automatically appear in the Google Home app). Only the Nest Thermostat gets directly installed in the Google Home app. (It's all part of Google Nest's 2-app world.)

It didn't show up. We did a reset, entered the codes & it's there now. Thank you for your help.
