Locking temperature range while running heat and cool

Gifw1355

Hi, myself and many others on the internet would love the ability to lock the temperature range while running both heat and cool mode for our airbnbs so that guests can adjust heat within a reasonable range and adjust cool within a reasonable range during seasons where the temperature varies significantly and they might want to switch from heat to cool or vice versa during their stay. Is it possible to do this? Thanks

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. You could hold a temperature if you have the Google Nest Thermostat. Could you tell us what type of Nest Thermostat do you have?

Thanks,

Edward

I have the nest learning thermostat. I don't want to lock the temperature. I want to be able to lock it within a specific range during heat/cool mode (the mode where it can change from heating to cooling or vice versa). For example - heat/cool mode on. heat (69-73 range) and cool (70-74 range). I want people to be able to adjust between those ranges whether its heating or cooling but not outside of them when heat and cool mode is running.

This can be done when running cool mode or heat mode separately but cannot be done when both heat/cool mode active best to my knowledge

Hey folks,

@EdwardT and @Jake, thanks for the helpful responses.

@Gifw1355, and Downsey, you can lock and unlock your Google Nest Thermostat. Locking your device prevents people from changing settings or changing the temperature outside of a restricted range with the thermostat.

Follow these steps to lock your Nest thermostat:

  1. Press your thermostat's ring to open the Quick View menu.
  2. Turn the ring to Settings Nest settings icon and press to select.
  3. Turn the ring to find Lock.
  4. Press the ring again to confirm that you want to lock your thermostat.
  5. Enter a four digit PIN that's easy to remember, and enter it again to confirm. If you forget your PIN you can unlock your thermostat with the Nest or Home app.
  6. If you lock your thermostat in Heat•Cool mode, the Lock icon will appear at the bottom of the screen.
  7. If you lock your thermostat in Heat mode or Cool mode, you'll need to set a temperature range. Turn the ring to set the minimum and maximum temperatures.
  8. Press to continue.
  9. Press the thermostat ring to choose Done and lock your thermostat, or select Change if you need to make any changes to your lock settings.
  10. The Lock icon at the bottom of the screen shows that the thermostat is locked.

You can also lock your Nest Thermostat with your Google Home app or the Nest app. Check this guide for more details: Lock and unlock your Nest Thermostat

Keep us posted.

Thanks, I do know how to set a range for cool mode or heat mode, lock device but that isn’t my issue. I’m looking to set 2 ranges at the same time (one for heat and one for cool) when both heat and cool mode is activated.

Hey Gifw1355,

We appreciate your interest however, we don't have any news to share about a way to set a range for heat and cool mode when the device is locked. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback.

I also suggest that you send feedback by following this link. Let me know if you have other questions or concerns, otherwise I’ll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

No, would love to get a notification if the nest learning thermostat ever does get that feature. Thanks for the responses
