My Nest Learning (3rd Gen) is showing that the lowest temperature for Lockout or Switchover from my Air Source Heat Pump to my Propane source is 10 F. But my heat pump is sized to work at 0 F or even slightly lower for our home.
Is it possible to have it set (possibly by a Nest Pro) to a lower lockout temp?
Or is the Nest limited 10 F? Is so then I'll go ahead and get a different thermostat.
I've been using the Nest for several years and have just had a new dual fuel system installed.

Hi NFriedrich,
Thanks for posting. Currently, the Nest Learning Thermostat has a default lockout temperature of 10°F, which means that when the outdoor temperature drops below that threshold, the Nest will switch from your air source heat pump to your propane source. Learn more about this here in our Heat Pump Balance article.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Best,

Thanks Zoe.
With newer heat pumps that are efficient at lower temps I’d really like to see an update to the thermostat software to allow the lockout temperature to be set lower than 10F.
Thanks.
