Low battery issues

Do not buy one of these thermostats.  They are very unpredictable and the one I spent over $ 250.00 on is done, in 2.5 months.  Google Nest Support ran me through a bunch of test and then in the end advised me that the thermostat is faulty.

The Agent tried to get me a replacement as it wasn't that far out of warranty.  I even stated I would take the cheaper replacement one, that's currently $ 129.00.   Oh we are so sorry nothing we can do.

Not happy and definitely won't be buying another one.  As I've asked around these apparently fail regularly.

This could have made me a future customer for $ 129 but they refused.

Just ranting, not happy.

Yes I am not either thinking about just tossing and getting a whole new thermostat

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry you both have to experience this, and we hope you can have a better time. For your benefit, I'd like to investigate this further and try to look for other options.

@Ed2022, can I have your support ID number so I can review the status?

@Caarandolph, what Nest Thermostat model you have? Could you provide more details about what happened? Also, could you provide a rundown of all the steps you've tried?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,
Mark

Hello Mark I find that the thermostat doesn’t have the correct read for instance it was set on 75 the house was at 74 and it was still running now it is hotter than normal but my ac has been running non stop for days now when I first got the nest thermostat I called to complain about it the agents really weren’t any help they would ask how the e wires were installed an I needed to send a bill from the ac man I got an ac man to install but they say that anyone can install

Hello Caarandolph,

Thanks for getting back to us with more details, and I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. Let's see what's going on.

Can you provide me with your support ID number so I can see how the troubleshooting or installation went through? That might help. Also, this might be a power-related issue you're experiencing that's causing your AC to constantly run. Please gather the power readings in the Technical Info settings or in the Equipment settings.

Keep me posted.

Regards,
Mark

Hi there,

Checking back in — how's it going? Still need our help?

Thanks,

Mark

yes I will send you the readings today

Hi Caarandolph,

That sounds like a plan! I'm eager to hear from you.

Best,

Mark

Hey Mark after sending the readings were they where they are supposed to be?

Hello Caarandolph,

I'm sorry for the delay. Can you also tell me the status of its Wiring Info in the same settings? This is to ensure that it detects all the wires and if there's a wiring report that has been overlooked. Also, have you tried resetting your thermostat to factory defaults to recalibrate? If you haven't yet, let's give it a try and ensure that its software version is up-to-date.

Keep me posted.

Thanks,
Mark

hello you want a pic of the wiring?

Hey there,

Yes please. In addition, when did you install your Nest Thermostat? Are you still using the batteries that came with it? If you repeatedly get low battery messages from your thermostat, or if there’s another power-related message, you may need to check the C wire connection or install a C wire to provide consistent power to your thermostat and prevent the backup batteries from draining.

Thanks,

Mark

this thermostat is still acting weird the house was set to 78 and the house was 79 and the air came on why is this?

Hi everyone,

@Caarandolph, thanks for keeping us in the loop. Could you please provide your thermostat's current power readings? Do you see any messages or codes in the app? Try to restart your Nest Thermostat and see if there would be any changes.

I appreciate the help, Mark.

Kind regards,

Jenelyn

Hey there,

Thanks for your assistance here, Jenelyn.

I apologize for the delayed answer, @Caarandolph. Seeing the Leaf icon on your thermostat display when cooling is activated appears to be a programmed temperature feature. Please check its Temperature Schedule for Eco or any related schedule available that would trigger it to activate, remove them, or edit if needed. Then, check the Routines for any thermostat actions that could cause the system to run automatically.

I appreciate your patience. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,
Mark
