I can't change the minimum temperature to anything less than 9 degrees. Meaning the heating coming on in the middle of the night. I've been on the App and have been able to amend the Eco Temperature to 5 degrees but that hasn't let me now reduce the temperature to less than 9 degrees within the Schedule part of the app or on the nest itself. Any ideas?

Hello Dymondm,
Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd love to help.
Is "Safety Temperature" enabled? When the predetermined limits are achieved, safety temperatures can prevent your house from exceeding or falling below specific temperatures. You can see these options to change the safety temperatures on the thermostat itself, in the Google Home app, or in the Nest app. Please check out the Thermostat Safety Temperatures for additional details and let me know if that helps.
Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark, thank you. I’ve had the same problem. I’ve lowered the safety temperature but the same as the original poster, I still can’t reduce the temperature below 9 degrees on the schedule. Any ideas appreciated.

Hi Nell123,
Thanks for posting on this thread. The Nest Thermostat does have a safety temperature, which is set to 40 degrees by default, and adjusting it below is not available. This means the thermostat would always kick the heat on if the temperature dropped below 40 degrees. The Eco Temperature ranges would help so you can choose from a large range: 40–70 °F (4–21 °C) for heating mode and 76–90 °F (24–32 °C) for cooling mode.
Also, please let our product team know about it by sending feedback and let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks,
Mark
