Only thing I found to fix that is to factory reset. However dont forget to write down your settings manually, as they will be deleted.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for being here in the Google Nest Community.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts here aT_dG. In addition,  we could try to reset the network before we proceed to the complete data reset of your Nest Thermostat. This way, we could save some of the settings by refreshing its network connectivity.

Regards,

Ryan

Hi Ryan, I think he's say that he maybe got a new wifi router? And if that is actually the case, there is no way to get his data back without a factory reset so he can connect to the new wifi router correct? Or is there a way around this?

Hi aT_dG,

Thanks for the reply.

Once you've reset your Nest Thermostat, all of your settings and information saved will be deleted from the device. Basically, once you do a reset and connect it to the new router, the Nest Thermostat will start from the beginning of learning from your temperature changes and schedule.

Regards,

Ryan

Yes I have, thank you, there is a lack of functionality when you need to connect your nest to a new wifi. It's a really bad feature if you want to upgrade your wifi but not your Thermostat. It basically pushes or bullies consumers to upgrade nest if they are not tech savvy, and are willing to take time out to do a factory reset, and take the time to set it up again. I suppose this is googles intent with having the lack of functionality though. This has historically been an item that lasts consumers 20yrs+, not a tech generation (1-2yrs).

Hi aT_dG,

Thanks for the response. If you want to connect the Nest Thermostat to a different network, you could just reset the Nest Thermostat's connection and not the whole thing. You can click on this link to learn more about this.

Thanks,

Edward
