Taking hours to go from 73 to 68. Just started doing this. Had a tech out to check out unit and everything is working with it.

Hi Vanessa,

Sorry to hear about your delayed air conditioning! That's sure uncomfortable in peak summer heat. Let's work together on this.

If your Nest thermostat is just recently installed, it's possible that your thermostat is still learning how quickly your house cools down. You can click on this link to know more about this. Often times, the delay is coordinated by both your preliminary HVAC and thermostat in order to prevent excessive wear/tear.

However, if you've had your Nest for a longer amount of time, here are other possible reasons behind the delay:
- You've recently reset the device
- The device updated its software
-
Nest Sense's Airwave feature is overcompensating its energy usage and needs to be toggled off

Let us know if you continue to run into issues with your thermostat. We're here to help!

I have the same problem, temperature currently at 77 and I set it to 69. It starts to cool but only runs for about 2 minutes and shuts down, taking a very long time to reach the desired temperature,  if it will ever reach it??

Hi Vanessa Rodriguez,

I understand your concern about your Nest taking hours to cool down your house, even at night. It's frustrating when the system doesn't seem to be performing as expected, despite having a technician confirm that everything is working fine.

To troubleshoot the issue, I recommend checking a few things:

  1. Make sure your Nest thermostat is set to the cooling mode and the desired temperature is correctly set.
  2. Ensure that there are no JRS obstructions blocking the vents or airflow in your home.
  3. Check if your air filters are clean and not clogged, as this can restrict airflow and affect cooling efficiency.
  4. Verify that the Nest thermostat is not in direct sunlight or near any heat sources, as this can interfere with temperature readings.

If you've already checked these aspects and the problem persists, it might be worth reaching out to the Nest support team directly. They can provide more personalized assistance and guide you through additional troubleshooting steps.

I hope this helps resolve the issue with your Nest thermostat.

Hi Rh41,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry for the late response.

What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Also, can you help me with your Nest Thermostat's power reading? On your thermostat, go to Settings, look for Technical Info, then select Power if you have the Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E. If you have the Nest Thermostat 2020, go to Settings, slide down to Equipment, then tap Power Info

I'll look forward to your response.

I appreciate your help, @jhonkriston412

Best,

Zoe

I figured it out, found a c wire available so I connected it and it solved the problem, the problem was it wasn't getting power so the thermostat was losing battery life. Thank you
