My nest learning thermostats are running wild this year

I have 2 early nest learning thermostats:  Location Northern New England

Both 'stats have a safety temp of 45°, the max.  An eco temp of 60°

For some reason, this year, they have been setting themselves to  absurdly low temperatures.  I'll go upstairs in the evening after being home all day (so not "away" and the thermostat is set to 50°.  But it could be anywhere between that up to 62°.  Usually, the lower.  Now, I may not have been up there for a few hours, but I have no idea why it is set to that.  It never used to.    If I get up in the middle of the night it will be somewhere in the low 50°'s.  So I bump it up to 62°.  My hope is that it will "learn" this, but it does not seem to.  As you can see their last updates were over 2 years ago.  Is there a way to force an update or are they past EOL?  Would that even matter?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi, @Jimbolyya!

Thank you for posting in the community. I’m truly sorry the Nest thermostat has been giving very low temperatures during the year. I’m happy to help you!

To provide you with the best assistance, please let me know:

  • Do you have an Auto-schedule set? If so, please try to reset the Auto-schedule to completely erase your existing schedule:
    • On your thermostat, go to Settings > Reset > Schedule > Reset.
  • Create a new schedule from scratch. Refer to this article for instructions: Change the temperature schedule.
  • Do you have the Nest Renew subscription, or are you enrolled in the Rush Hour Rewards program?
  • Do you have the Eco mode on? If so, turn off eco mode and turn off Safety Mode.
  • Do you have a conventional or heat pump system?
    • Conventional System: Typically consists of two pieces of equipment (furnace and AC).
    • Heat Pump: Handles both heating and cooling with a single unit.
  • Does the issue happen with heating only, cooling only, or both?
  • Is the thermostat displaying any error message?

This information will help me to determine the best course of action. Thanks in advance.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Ana
