NEST THERMOSTAT= Blown Fan Motor?

MarkRS168

Had utility company out after I installed the NEST, since there was no air coming out of vents.  I was told the thermostat blew out the blower motor.  He confirmed it was wired correctly.  So I'm at a loss.  The Honeywell 5000 I replaced worked perfectly, just wanted to upgrade.  Here is my wiring configuration

 Yellow- Y1

Green- G

Orange- O/B

White- W2Aux

Blue- C

Red- RH

What did I miss and has anyone else experienced similiar issues?

Hi MarkRS168,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing with your blower motor after installing the Nest Thermostat. Let's see what's going on. A few questions:

  1. Are you located in North America or Europe?
  2. What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  3. What is the make and model of your HVAC system?
  4. Could you help us with a photo of your previous thermostat wiring configuration and a photo of how you connected the wires to the Nest thermostat base so we can take a closer look?
  5. Can you share with us the service invoice with the diagnosis of your utility company, who checked your thermostat and your system?

Also, check on the following:

  1. Double-check the wiring on the Nest Thermostat to ensure secure connections and proper placement, avoiding loose or exposed wires that could cause a short circuit, even if the wiring appears correct.
  2. Check your HVAC system's electrical panel or fuse box to ensure no fuses have blown or circuit breakers have tripped. If a blown fuse or tripped breaker is present, it may indicate an electrical issue requiring repair.
  3. The Nest Thermostat needs to be checked for power supply, ensuring the C wire (blue) is properly connected and stable, as a lack of power can cause issues with the blower motor and other components.

Keep us posted. We're happy to help.

Best,

Zoe
