NEST THEROSTAT - 4th Generation

My QR code does not scan. When I try to add the code manually, it wants (8) characters and the code on the back of the unit is only (6) characters. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Hi @ShawnFrench!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconveniences that you’ve been experiencing when trying to add your Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen to your account. I understand that during the setup you are having a difficult time when scanning the QR code. Then you decided to use the 6-digit code in the back of the device, but the app is asking for an 8-digit code. No worries, help is here.

To properly set up your device, you will need to use the Google Home app and follow the next steps:

  1. Open the Home app.
  2. Tap Devices Add Google Nest or partner device.
  3. Choose a home.
  4. The app will search for devices that you can add. If it doesn't find your thermostat, select it from the list.
  5. Tap Continue without scanning.
  6. The Home app will walk you through installation.

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.
