Hi @ChiefDee88,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties connecting your Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) to your network, which is preventing you from manually controlling your AC to cool your house. I understand how frustrating this must be since you've already tried multiple troubleshooting steps without success. I appreciate the information you've shared and your troubleshooting efforts. Don't worry, let's work together to get this resolved. To help with that, I have a few questions for you:

  • Has your Nest Thermostat ever been connected to your network?
  • What Wi-Fi frequency band are you trying to connect to (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)?
  • How far is your Nest Thermostat from your router?
  • Are there any devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near your Nest Thermostat?
  • When you try to connect, are there any error codes or messages on your Nest Thermostat display?

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Cheers,
Jonathan

Jonathan,

It used to be connected to the internet.. then somehow it quit charging.. and haven't been able to get it to reconnect to the internet since then. There isn't anything that has changed with the location of the router or the NEST. Nothing is near by either of them. They are both exactly where they were when they were initially connected. On the NEST you have the option to type in wifi router and password.. it won't accept that when I have tried. Its like the blue tooth in the nest is not working. I haven't seen anything that says that has been a problem.  The other issue is when I turn off the nest sense it doesn't stay off. It comes back on. I have watched videos on how to turn it off, maybe im not doing something right.. but I am beyond frustrated.  We still have some HOT daytime temps left before fall.. would be nice to have it work correctly.

Hi @ChiefDee88,

Thanks for your response. I understand you're having difficulties turning off the Nest Sense, as when you do, it automatically comes back on, and that your Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) also quit charging and now won't connect. I appreciate you sharing the answers to these questions. Let's try the following steps:

  • On your phone or another device, check if your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) appears on the list of available networks.
  • Restart your router by unplugging it from the power source, waiting for 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in.
  • Regarding the Nest Sense feature, are you trying to turn it off through the thermostat's display or through the Google Home app?

Please keep me updated.

Cheers,

Jonathan
