Need Help to Determine if 3rd Gen Nest is Fixable

ANest

I have a 3rd Gen Nest Learning Thermostat.  It was knocked off the wall and it is no longer working.  It wasn't a particularly hard fall, and the unit looks fine.  No dents, scratches or cracks of any kind.  The connection pins are fine.  Nothing is bent or broken. When it is returned to the base on the wall - the screen stays black and the light flashes green.

A quick Google Search tells me it needs to be charged.  I have a C wire so the thermostat is getting power.  But to be safe, I plugging it into an outlet via a micro-USB cable.  I tried two different cables.  The screen does not turn on and the unit makes a soft buzzing sound (when plugged in via micro-USB.)  The person I spoke with at Nest had no idea that a Nest Thermostat could make a buzzing sound and said they'd send the "file" to "another team."

I assume the unit broke in the fall.  It worked fine beforehand.  But I hoped someone here might have an idea to salvage this unit.  (It is not longer under warranty.)  Thanks in advance!

Hey ANest,

Sorry about what happened to your Nest thermostat.

This might not be the answer you're looking for but I'm afraid that if you've already tried connecting it to a power source using a USB cable but to no avail, there's not a lot more that we can do especially that it is already out of warranty.

Best,

Melba
