Need for automatic humidity setting in Nest thermostat

The humidity setting must be controlled manually.  Why?

Nest knows the outdoor temperature and the inside humidity.  I should not have to adjust the humidity setting on the thermostat when the temperature falls lower, like 0, or -10.  the thermostat should allow a preferential setting of less moist, normal moist and high moist and thereafter dust the humidity setting based on the outside temperature.

Hey Sironi,

Thanks for posting here and we're sorry for the delay.

The Google Nest thermostat has a feature that can help with the control of humidity inside your home. With Cool to Dry, Google Nest thermostats can use your air conditioner or heat pump to help reduce excessive humidity in very humid climates. This helps to prevent mold and maintain a healthier environment in your home. If your air conditioner has a dehumidification mode, your Nest thermostat can do even more to help reduce your home’s humidity.

Check out this link to know more about this feature and thank you for sharing your feedback. It is important to us to improve our product and services.

Regards,

Ryan

I want humidification, not dehumidification in cold temperatures.

I couldn't agree more with this. The fact that you can't have Nest automatically control humidity is a travesty. Seems like this would be relatively simple code for them to add to the nest device.

The lack of automatic humidity adjustments when the temperature goes below freezing and causes frozen condensation ice on the windows in Northern climates is the biggest fault of all versions of the Nest Thermostat and is a deal-breaker.  For some reason, although Nest has had many complaints on this issue, Nest has refused to address it.  The coding is so basic a child could do it with software and add a toggle of - use or don't use.  Also adding another feature - a slide switch of - too much adjustment or reduce the adjustment.  Easy Peasy.  I am an original user on version 1, then 2, then 3.  Too bad, so sad.  😞
