Need help with an install

ChrisRowlett
Community Member

I recently installed a nest 4th gen, replacing an old Emerson thermostat. The Emerson wiring was as followed...

Green to G

Yellow to Y

White to W2

Black to W/E

Orange to OB

Red to RH

A jumper from RH to RC

And Blue to C

I have electric and propane. I would prefer to use propane as my main source. When I go through the install settings it chooses electric forced air. Does anyone know if this setup is correct or how to change the source? I've looked through every setting. Thanks!

Hi @ChrisRowlett,

Thank you for reaching out to the community forum. I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties setting up your Nest thermostat 4th gen. Don't worry, I'm here to help.

After reviewing your wiring configuration, you've got the wires you need for your Nest thermostat. That means your system works with the Nest thermostat 4th gen. To change the fuel source on your Nest thermostat, please follow these steps:

  • On your thermostat, go to Settings.
  • Select Equipment > Done.
  • Select Heat pump > you'll see some options. Please select Propane > Done.

Let me know how it goes after trying these steps. I'm happy to assist further if needed.

Cheers,
Jonathan
