Nest 3gen preheating even if max duration is 0

Since the start of cold days I've noticed that the radiators were hot when thermostat was showing as off.

Got a expected plumber to check the system and he has changed a couple of valves that could cause the issue.

However it did not. After long hours with support over the phone and factory reset wires check etc. Still no luck.

I have recently noticed preheating on about 6 hours earlier than the schedule even though true radiant max duration is set to "0"

Any thoughts?

Hi srMarquinho,

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're still having an issue with your Nest Thermostat. We'd like to dig deeper into this. Please provide the following information below:

  • Could you please provide us with a  case number?
  • When was the Nest Thermostat installed?
  • What is the make and model of your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment?
  • Is the display seated? (Is it properly clicked into the base?)
  • Was the Nest Thermostat recently reset to factory defaults?
  • Is there a preheating message on the display?

I'm looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Jenelyn

Hi there! I'm really sorry to hear about this, but I'm here to help. I've been able to check your previous cases, and it seems like all the troubleshooting was done. In these conditions, the only thing left is the continuity test, which one of my colleagues has already sent you the instructions for, via email. After you've done that, make sure the installer has set up the diagnostic report and send it as a reply to that email. The instructions on how to do the diagnostic report are in that email as well. After we see the results for the continuity test, we'll be able to establish what else we can do to remediate your issue, but until then there is not much else we can do.

Thank @Paul_R .
I had it installed by a professional, to begin with. A continuity test by calling him again l will cost me money, I have done it myself with the I believe good knowledge I have and all seems to pass te test. For now, I'm embracing the issue of preheating when I don't need to.

If you've done it yourself it's alright, but we'll need the diagnostic report anyway, and you can do it yourself as well.
