@bandit8623 , your system has a “fresh air supply?” Are you actually talking about an economizer on a packaged unit? If you are introducing fresh air, you have to have an air balance system because otherwise you would have A excessive positive air pressure in the home so you would need some way to exhaust that air to maintain a balance.
On the other hand, economizer introduces a small amount of air to allow the air conditioning system to operate more efficiently when the outdoor air temperature is near the desired input air temperature. The systems are controlled automatically and the thermostat does not it involved with an economizer.

Hi there,
looking for something along these lines to pull in fresh cold air when the temps outside are lower. my ecobee has a fresh air option that checks outside temps and humidity and if right it will open this vent and bring in colder air through the return.

my current ecobee 4 thermostat doesnt support 2 accessories as i already have a humudifier connected for the winter months. the ecobee premium does support 2 accessories as long as one is a 1 wire connection and the other 2 or 1 wire. cant connect two 2 wire accessories.
either way i will need a new thermostat. if the new nest can do this it will be one i may buy. now that the new nest has frost control with the humidifier 🙂

@bandit8623 , The April air system that you were looking at to introduce fresh air into the house as an independent operating system. It does not require a special conductor or connection to actually activate, but you do wire your thermostat through its controller and its controller to the air handler and that’s how it works. It sits in between. Any thermostat can be done can do this. The April air has its own temperature and humidity sensors, and whether in heating or cooling mode, it can be programmed into what conditions outside air should be introduced to the home. This is not system that you can turn on anytime you feel that you just wanna get some outside air into the house. If designed to work in concert with an existing HVAC system and must introduce the air before the air filter. If there is no air filter at the HVAC air handler, then a special filter has to be also installed between the input air and the airstream going to the HVAC equipment.

it can i would remove the april air controller and use acobee to close and open dampner. i would not use the auto control of the aprilaire . its a 24v system so it can be wired this way. yes this duct will be entering into the return area enter furnace before filter.
again all i need to know is if the new nest can control 2 independant accessories. hunidifier and another. using either 2 wire or 1 wire.
as i mentioned th eolder ewcobee can only control 1 accessory. the new permium ecobee can control 2. can the new nest control 2?
im not neccesarrily going to use that april air i was trying to give u an idea since u asked.
