Nest E installed 5 years ago now 2 won't connect to the Nest App

I'm trying to add my Nest E thermostat to the Nest app. 4 zone Nest E thermostats installed in 2017.  Worked great for several years.  First I was getting a “not Connected” message on my app for one E thermostat.  It would show on sometimes and “Not Connected” other times. I removed the E from the app and tried reconnecting.  No luck.

Now my second E does not connect to App by using the QR code method.  I now show 3 E’s on app when I always had 4 before removing the problem one that was intermittent on the app as Not Connected.

After QR Code Activation, it simply gives me a TR0XX code and states it failed to connect to network. the Nest seems to hang, stuck in the spinning dots, and I need to do another hard reset to restart the process and seemingly get nowhere further.

Summary: Cannot connect 2 Es to App. They seem to work manually. We live 3 hours away and the average winter temperature here in the Rockies can be in negative territory. So for 5 years I would put it on Eco for weeks we are not here…now I am going to have to leave heat up for no reason other than freezing line prevention.

I've tried:

USB battery charge overnight

Switching Es to different bases.

Rebooting my phone

Hard reset (about 6-8 times) on the Nest

Phone App and E are on same network.  Both the ones that have gone out are the closest to the router.

I don't know what else to even try at this point.

Hi Nelbru52,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you.

Let's sort this out:

  • Do you see any other code on the Nest app and on the actual Nest Thermostat?
  • Does your thermostat detect other Network Name?
  • Please check the thermostat power readout.
    • Go to the "Settings" and look for "Technical Info" then select "Power"
    • Check for VOC, VIN and LIN.

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Jenelyn
