Nest E new on shelf for 2 yrs, battery dead

I am a contractor. I had Nest E sitting in stock waiting for someone who needed it. Unit sat on shelf for 2 yrs. Is the battery now fully degraded from not being maintained so long after assembly/delivery at factory? Can I just charge at USB?

It could be fully discharged yes, but best bet is to try charging it and see what happens!
