Nest Gen 3 keeps rebooting.

My Nest device keeps restarting (an image of a house appears), the first message that pops up is regarding an incorrect date and time with the option to set it. I can not make any selections, and it quickly changes to the following message: The thermostat needs to restart. Be back in a bit. It then dies, and the light starts flashing red, it then goes around this loop.

Hi PhillT,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with the Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Gen that is not letting you change that date and shutting down with a red light flashing. Don't worry, I can help. I just need to ask for some information to better assist you:

  1. Could you please check if the Nest thermostat has a Wi-Fi connection?
  2. Is this a new installation of the Nest Thermostat?
  3. Do you see any power errors on the thermostat display?
  4. Could you please remove the thermostat display from its base and check if any connector pins are bent?
  5. Check the thermostat wires are secured in their terminals and all the buttons are down.

In the meantime, take the Nest Learning Thermostat from the base and change it with a micro-USB cable for about one hour, put the thermostat back on the base, and then go to setting > technical info > power. Please send a picture of the power readouts.

Please let me know if you have any questions during the process. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,

Jenny
