Home/Away Assist appears to have stopped working since upgrading my phone to Android 14. Anybody else having the same issue? Activity data shows that it recognises when I am home or away but is not making the switch in the app and changing the thermostat to Eco when I'm away.

I'm still ver.13 and presence detection seems to have stopped working as of 9-14 days ago for no reason. Just learned of this as we were out of town 7 days and similar to you it was not detected and nest never switched to away and thus kept the normal schedule. Urg!!

Seems to have worked OK today for me.

Hello folks,
I'm chiming in to make sure everything is covered here.
@Bevrid, I appreciate you posting and updating us that your concern has been rectified.
@mikebp, I totally feel your frustration with Nest Home/Away Assist not working, especially when it disrupts your routine. It could be worth checking for any updates or patches that might have been released to address this issue. Sometimes, these updates can fix bugs or compatibility issues that may arise with new Android versions.
Fingers crossed that a solution is found soon and that your Nest Thermostat gets back to its reliable self. Feel free to keep us posted on any developments.
Best regards,
Mark

Yep, I stay on tip of updates.
One point of most likely contention is Google Home routines and the nest App routine. Which is determining home/away and I suspect there is contention between the two.
Certainly poor integration. I've found that the two phones and no device presence detection is inconsistent unreliable for both phones - generally just using one (mine).
I've tried permutations of nest and google-home settings with inconsistent results every way.
Which App is master and takes presidence over the other? Should one App be Off/disabled or should both be set identically?
It's a mess and needs to be cleaned up!

Hi mikebp,
I'm sorry for the inconsistency in the Google Home app's Routines and the Nest app's Home and Away Assist when it comes to determining home or away status. In terms of which app takes precedence, if you have the Nest Learning Thermostats, including the Nest Thermostat E, it would be ideal to use the Nest app as a primary app. Also, make sure to enable the app permissions in your phone settings.
In the meantime, you might want to consider temporarily disabling the Google Home app's Routines/Presence Sensing feature to see if that brings more consistency.
Let me know if anything comes up.
Best,
Mark
