Hello, new heat pump installed on my home the other day. It's a high efficiency system with 2 stages (SEER 18). Dividing at this time to stick with my Nest 2nd Gen thermostat. It functions. What I would like to know is if there is still a way to earn green leaves via the Nest given that a high efficiency system will simply will run longer periods of time but on lower energy use. Or, does the leaf concept go out the window now? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for reaching out. You would still earn leaves with your new heat pump as the Nest Leaf depends on the temperature that you set on your Nest Thermostat. The Nest Leaf icon appears on your thermostat (and in the Home app or Nest app) to tell you when your thermostat is set to an energy-saving temperature.
