Nest Leaning thermostat not turning off after heating temp reached

pankajswarup

I bought a refurbished Nest Learning thermostat from Amazon and changed my existing one. It said compatible

Now when I set the heating temp to 70, it should automatically turn off

But it remains on and I have to circuit break it to turn my furnace off

Any recommendations. I have reset as well

Hello pankajswarup

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, where are you located? What other troubleshooting steps have you done so far? What HVAC system do you have? How many Nest Thermostats do you have? Try removing the display of your Nest Thermostat while the heating is ON, if the system still goes on it means there's a problem with your heating system and you need to call an HVAC technician to have it checked physically. You may also share here the photo of the wiring setup of your Nest Thermostat. Check its power reading, go to> Settings> Tech info> Power> and share it here.

Looking forward to your response.

Emerson

Just installed mine earlier this week and it too would run and run even after reaching the temperature. Then I noticed that the fan would run w/o the furnace being ignited so pushing out cold air. This morning I discovered that my heat setting was set to 'electric' and not 'gas'. Once I made this change it functions properly! 🙂
