Hello Art77,

It looks like you have a pretty standard set of thermostat wires. Connecting them to the Nest Learning Thermostat should be straightforward. Here's a quick guide based on the wires you have:

  • Y (Cooling): Connect this wire to the Y terminal on your Nest Thermostat.
  • G (Fan): Connect the G wire to the G terminal on the Nest Thermostat.
  • W2 (Second Stage Heating): If you have a two-stage heating system, connect the W2 wire to the W2/AUX terminal on the Nest Thermostat.
  • W/E (Heat or Emergency Heat): Connect the W/E wire to the W1 terminal on the Nest Thermostat. If you have the Emergency heat, connect it to the * (star terminal).
  • RH (Power): Connect the RH wire to the RH terminal on the Nest Thermostat. In this case, you can disregard the jumper wire from RH to RC on the Nest Thermostat.

Remember, the Nest Thermostat usually does not require a C (Common) wire, but if you have one available, you can connect it to the C terminal for continuous power and to help maintain a stable Wi-Fi connection. Always make sure to turn off the power to your HVAC system before making any wiring changes. If you're unsure or uncomfortable with the process, it's a good idea to consult a professional HVAC technician to ensure everything is connected correctly.

Warm regards,
Mark
