Hello, all. I have a Learning Thermostat (3rd Gen) and wish to install it in my new residence (new to me, but with an older AC/heating unit). The current thermostat is an older GE unit, with 4 wires only, connected to W, Y, G, and R. The label on the old thermostat reads "30V A.C. 1.5 amps." Put simply, it seems that the wires are too thick to insert into the Nest thermostat. Am I overlooking something? Images attached. And thank you in advance for any insight and suggestions.

Hi LordBrock,
Thanks for reaching out. The Nest base can handle 20-30V AC. Regarding the thickness of the wires, Nest thermostats require wires between 18 and 22 gauge, which is standard for residential heating and cooling systems.
You can click on this link to learn more about this.
Thanks,
Edward
