Wiring

My wiring was: W2=White, G=Green, W=Orange, C=Blue, Y=Yellow

For the Nest Thermostat, which color should go into the W? The White or the Orange?

And does the other go into the OB*

It is a bit confusing as there is no W2 option. I would assume put the White in the W, and the Orange in the OB*, but would like to confirm with someone smarter about these things than I. Thanks,

~Shaun

Hey there ShaunDo1,

Welcome to the Nest Community Forum! From the looks of the photo you've provided, it looks like you are using a Conventional System, which wouldn't use the O/B terminal. Traditionally, the White cable sends 24 volts to the furnace control to start the heating cycle, and would go into the W terminal. The Orange cable energizes the heat pump reversing valve for cooling, and would go into the O/B terminal. With the picture you provided, it looks like you are using a 2 Stage Cooling system, with the Orange cable is going into the W terminal, and the White wire going into the W2 terminal. You could attempt this same setup with the Nest Thermostat, however, if you aren't completely sure, I'd recommend you contact Nest Support.

I hope that helps, and let me know if you had any more questions or concerns.

Best regards,

Jeran
