Nest Learning Thermostat Gen 3

I have had the Nest for several years and it was working fine. Recently the schedule feature changed - not sure if it was the May 3 software update that caused it. I had it on heat only for winter but have changed it set to Heat-Cool and use Celsius. I had the schedule set for the winter but recently updated to summer temp settings. I have it set for 6:30 am to heat to 22.5 and cool at 23.5. It is set for 22 heat and 23.5 cool, but when I add the.5 heat increase it adds that amount to the cool, making it 24. When I reduce the cool to 23.5 it reduces the heat to 22! Anyone know how to fix this?. I reset the thermostat as suggested but nothing changed.

Hi @Firewire,

First I would like to thank you for posting in our community page, on the other hand I apologize for the inconvenience that you are having with your Thermostat. Let me tell you some troubleshooting steps that you can try to fix the problem.

That sounds like a frustrating bug with your Nest thermostat's scheduling. It seems to be incorrectly adjusting the cool temperature whenever you modify the heat temperature. Here are a few things you can try to fix it:

1. App and Thermostat Check:

  • App Update: Make sure you're using the latest version of the Google Home app on your phone. Outdated apps might have bugs that newer versions fix. Update the app from the Play Store or App Store.
  • Thermostat Restart: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve glitches. Try turning off the power to your Nest thermostat (if it's wired) or removing it from the wall mount (if it's battery-powered) for 30 seconds, then power it back on.

2. Nest Thermostat Settings:

  • Schedule Double-Check: Open the Google Home app and navigate to your Nest thermostat settings. Carefully review the schedule you created for both heating and cooling. Ensure there aren't any accidental duplications or conflicting settings.
  • Temperature Range: Check the minimum and maximum temperature range allowed on your Nest thermostat. Sometimes, there might be limitations that prevent settings as specific as 0.5 degrees.

3. Advanced Settings (if applicable):

  • Nest Pro (if you have it): If you have a Nest Learning Thermostat with Pro features, there might be advanced scheduling options. Explore these settings to see if there's anything related to independent temperature adjustments for heating and cooling.

Regards,

Mario.

Where do I find setting for max and min temp? Could not see this in settings? I did restart but did not help. I don't have the Pro but Gen 3 learning

Hi @Firewire,

Thanks for reaching out to our community about your Nest thermostat schedule. I understand it can be frustrating when things aren't working as expected. Let's try a few things to get it back on track!

Tailored Troubleshooting:

  • Are your schedule settings not working as planned? If so, try resetting the schedule by going to Settings > Reset > Reset Schedule.
  • Is Nest Sense learning your habits a little too aggressively? You can adjust Nest Sense by tapping the screen on your thermostat and then going to the Schedule option (it might be the 5th option depending on your model). From there, you can turn off Auto-Schedule.

Additional Tips:

  • Doing a factory reset of your thermostat sometimes can fix the issues that you have.

Still Having Issues?

If you've tried these steps and your schedule still isn't working properly, don't hesitate to reply with more details about the problem you're experiencing. The more information you provide, the better we can assist you.

Regards,

Mario.
