Nest Learning Thermostat can't get past "Please attach display to the base. "

Consulted the community. Tried the hold the display to the base for an extended time. No help.

No idea how I got into this, but I can't seem to get out.

Yes. Finally gave up as I need heating and cooling. Went to Home Depot and purchased a Honeywell T5.
