Nest Learning Thermostat

The Nest app provides usage only for past 10-days. How about giving users monthly and yearly data? Google alredy has this data! This improvement would allow Nest users to accurately determine whether alternative heating and cooling systems may be more energy and cost-efficient. For example, I heat my house using gas, but have been considering switching to an electric heat pump (mini-split) system. Only with detailed usage will I be able to correctly calculate the actual savings or additional cost I would incur from switching to a different system. Idem for switching from grid supplied electricity versus going solar versus going solar and being completely off the grid.

And, since I've read multiple dated responses from Google about "seeing with our product team" when a user makes a suggestion, I would prefer that Google invest far more to improve software for its existing products. The best example that comes to mind is the fact that Google has yet to update its Google Home app to control Nest temperature sensors. It's been years since Google purchased Nest and yet the legacy Nest app remains the only way to control these sensors.

Get crackin' Google!

Hey there, I have this same set of questions and since I see that it’s been nearly a year, I thought I’d check in to see what amazing answers Google’s come up with as since then?

Hello NavyNate95,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry.

I understand how the energy history data can be important for you. Unfortunately, we don't have an option in the Nest app to view the history on a monthly basis. I'd suggest enabling the email notification via the Google Home app so you can receive a monthly report. Also, you can try and see if your Nest data is at Google Takeout.

If there’s anything else I can help you with, please let me know. Otherwise, this thread will be locked within 24 hours.

Regards,

Mark
