I just bought a Nest Learning Thermostat. Included in the box was a display and a base. It looks like the base was already connected to the display. How do I remove the base from the display? It has not been installed yet. I appreciate any help? Thank you!

@per97f ,
The standard packaging of the Nest Learning thermostat is not packaged with the backplate attached to the display. In fact the display is on top in a plastic tray and the backplate is under the tray. If it is, as you say attached, this thermostat is either used or not genuine Google Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd edition.
It will be very difficult to separate the two without breaking one of the four retaining clips.

Thank you for your response, but I was able to separate it. The unit was bought at Home Depot and it looked factory sealed. No indication that it was used. The "What's in the box" picture indicate as you say, a separate piece, base and display but for whatever reason it came attached. No youtube videos show this but there was one video of a guy who was holding the display and showed the inside. It showed 4 tabs. So I carefully took a small flat head and stuck it one of the tabs, and it popped right out in my hand. I was then able to install it and it's now working like a charm. Thanks again for response.
