Nest Learning Theromstat (3rd Gen) Was working now it's not

Nest support is without doubt the most frustrating support system i have ever had the misfortune to use!

My Nest Learning Theromstat (3rd Gen) was working great but recently it keeps loosing connection, showing the wrong temp, setting the heating on for no reason.

All i need is to find out if its broken and if it needs a replacement, or if there is a way to do a hard reset to fix the issues?

Thanks

Hi addimar,

Sorry to hear about this situation with your Nest Learning Thermostat. No worries, help is here! Here are the steps to perform a Factory Reset:

  • Go to Settings Nest settings icon > Reset >All Settings

Also, if your thermostat is constantly losing connection, check the thermostat's battery levels:

  •  Settings  > Technical Info > Power > Find the number labeled “Battery.”
  1. If it’s 3.8V or higher, your thermostat is not disconnected because of a low battery.
  2. If it’s below 3.6V, there might be a power issue that causes your thermostat to disconnect.  Check the Troubleshoot when your thermostat won’t turn on article for more help.

Try the troubleshooting steps above and let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Axel.

Hi Axel

I have tried all of the above and the unit still has a list of issues
Disconnect from WiFi
Change Temp for no reason
Turn on/off with out warning
Shut down/Turn off
Show incorrect temp
Luckly a friend has a spare device which we have plugged in and has been working OK for the last couple of days.
I believe there is an issue with the unit unless there is a way to do a remote diagnosis the problem I would like to return it for repair. but nobody at Nest wants to talk to me.

Been locked in a death loop returning to the same thing time after time.

If you know of any way to contact someone it would be appreaciated.

Many thanks
