My new Nest Learning Thermostat works great, however the display has random periods (several days) of NOT waking up when I walk by or wave at it. Can't identify a pattern, though it continues to operate just fine. Just annoying for several days after the display comes to live again. Ideas?

Hi AP71,
Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry for the delay — we'd love to help.
When the ambient temperature is close to human body temperature 98.6ºF or 37ºC, this feature may not be as accurate as it was originally perceived. Also, the hotter weather may cause the Nest Thermostat Wake on Approach features to become less effective, but it doesn't harm the device itself.
Once the ambient temperature of the room decreases to more reasonable levels, the thermostat should work as expected.
Please make sure that the Farsight feature is on by going to the "Settings" and look for the "Display" then select "Use Farsight".
Best,
Jenelyn

Thanks Jenelyn for your response!
The Nest Theromstat is in the family room where the temperature is between 64-70F, so perfectly acceptable. I have tried resetting, charging the battery, and making sure the Farsight feature is on, but no luck. Been off for weeks (though it works as a thermostat). Feels like a car without steering wheel - pretty useless if I can't see the temp or have to push the ring every time.
I bought it at Costco less than a year ago. Can I get a replacement - assume we still have warranty.
Pl. advice.
Thanks
Alex.
