Nest Learning thermostat

JimmyC
Community Member

I just installed my third Nest Learning Thermostat.  This one, the batteries had a low voltage indication and would not connect to the internet.  I charged the batteries using the charging connector, but after plugging the display back onto the base, the settings show the battery’s voltage is slowly be discharging.  The readings are;

battery 3.706 V

Voc  38.20 V

Vin. 6.57 V

Could the batteries be defective/not charging?

Lin.  20 mA (a)

Hey there JimmyC,

I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Learning Thermostat is having some issues with holding its batteries! I'd be happy to help you look into this, as I can imagine this issue is pretty frustrating. Let me just ask you a few questions to better understand what's going on:

  • When did this issue first occur?
  • Are you using a Heat Pump, or a conventional system?
  • What wiring are you using?
  • Are you receiving any kind of error from the thermostat?
  • Is your Wi-Fi connection unstable?
  • Are all the wires seated firmly in their terminals? (No loose or exposed wires)

There could be quite a few issues, such as the device trying to keep connection to a weak Wi-Fi signal, or a power issue if you aren't using a C wire.

I look forward to your response on this!

Best regards,

Jeran
