Nest Model 1.4 Not heating Now when it has in the past

I’ve had my Nest for 3 years (I live in an apartment complex) and have been lovin it. This year as the weather turned cold, i turn on the heat but it isnt heating. I’ve tried a reset, factory restore and various other options found when googling the issue. I have called twice to have my complex maintenance come and fix but they claim the issue is with the thermostat (since I added it on). The guy claims to have tried the W wire separate from the device and it fires up the heating but I haven’t been here when he has.

Is there anything else i can check/do on my end to confirm the issue isnt with the Nest itself? As the weather is getting colder, this issue is becoming more pressing to resolve. Any thoughts or tips appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Ksado,

Yikes! If you have already tried a reset and factory restore of your Nest Thermostat, as well as various troubleshooting options found online, and the issue persists, ensure that all the wiring connections between your Nest Thermostat and your heating system are secure and properly connected. Double-check that the wires are correctly seated at their respective terminals on both ends. Also, verify that your Nest Thermostat is receiving sufficient power. Make sure the wiring connections are tight and that the thermostat is properly seated on the base. If your thermostat is running on battery power, ensure that the batteries are not depleted and are inserted correctly.

Let us know how it goes.

Unfortunately, i think it is the Thermostat. I did everything you mentioned and they even connected the W Wire separate from the thermostat and it worked fine - so I'm concerned. I saw elsewhere that others experienced this type of issue. Is this a known issue and is there a fix for it?

Thank you for following up. I rechecked everything and saw that one of the prongd on the face plate was a little bent. When i straightened it out, the face plate clicked more distinctly back into the wall unit and everything has been working fine since (heats on demand and just as it use to). So i think i am good now. Thank you again.
