Nest Not Cooling

Kaela5991

I installed a new nest around 2:30pm today. Now three hours later, the temperature in my home has gone up 15 degrees.

The nest keeps saying 1 1/2 hours to cool, then changes to 2 hours, and now it just says 2+ hours to cool. It kicks on for maybe 2-5 minutes every hour and then shuts off again.

I’ve ready multiple articles that says it takes time for the thermostat to “learn” the home to properly cool it. Anyone know if there’s anyway around this? I live in AZ so while the nest is taking time to learn the house, it’s 90 degrees inside and rising.

Hi Kaela5991,

Thanks for reaching out. I'd like to know more about it. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Aside from your thermostat time to temp, do you see any messages or codes on your thermostat or in the app? Please provide your thermostat's power readout. Also, share with us the photo of the wires connected to your thermostat and system control board. Ensure that the labels of the wires are visible.

You can follow the guide below on how to check your thermostat's power readings:

Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E:

  1. Go to your thermostat Quick View menu.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Look for Technical Info.
  4. Select Power.

Nest Thermostat 2020:

  1. Open the Google Home app and then tap the thermostat and then tap Settings .
  2. Select the Device Information.
  3. Choose Technical Information.

Best,

Jenelyn
