Nest Power Connector issues

I recently got a Nest thermostat and I have a heat-only system. My home uses radiator heat. I have a red and white wire, and when I set up my new Nest thermostat, it told me that I needed the Nest Power Connector.

I finally received one on the mail, and I set it up. But now when I set it up, it says it can’t find the red and white wire and that there’s still no power.

I wired it correctly into the wire connectors. It locks in and does not come out when I pull. The wires don’t appear to need cleaning, and they were previously working with my old thermostat with no issues.

When I reconnect the red and white to the terminal and to the Nest Thermostat directly without the Power Connector it recognizes it on the Nest Thermostat. It still has the power issue, but the red and white wire show up.

Is this a common issue with the Nest Power Connector? I think the Power Connector is malfunctioning, but I didn’t know if anything else could be going on.

Hi ,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems setting up the thermostat in your app and are showing you the wrong serial number. I'm happy to assist you right now.

  • What type of Nest thermostat do you have?

  • Do you see error codes on the screen of the thermostat?

  • Where did you install the Power Connector?

  • Can you please send me a picture of the Power Connector installation?

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Regards,

Gabriela

I have a Nest Thermostat 2020.

I keep getting a No Power error. I have updated the firmware for the device.

I installed it directly on the box attached to my furnace where the thermostat wire attaches.

I am not able to take a photo as I will not be reinstalling without some additional info. I know it currently doesn’t work and I need my heat working.

I don’t have any issues with my serial number. I’m more confused why my R and W wire don’t show up as connected when I use the Power Connector, but they do when I don’t use it. Either way I don’t have power.

Hi

Thank you so much for keeping me updated. I appreciate the time you have taken to answer my questions. I'm happy to continue assisting you right now.

Install the power connector at the zone controller. If you can’t locate your zone controller, contact a pro. You can refer to this Installation Guide and for your reference, you can watch this video How to install the Nest Power Connector.

If you’ve installed a Nest Power Connector and your power status is “Not detected,” run a power test. The status should change to “Detected” after the power test.

  • Make sure your thermostat is set to Off mode.
  • On your Nest Thermostat, select Settings  Equipment.
  • Select Power Connector  Power test.
  • Wait for the power test to finish, and then select Done.
  • To confirm, select Settings
    • Equipment
    • Power Connector
    • Power Status. The screen should now read “Nest Power Connector Detected.”

If some wires are still not detected, check the following:

  • The wires are in the right connectors.
  • The wires are fully inserted in the connectors.
  • Make sure the power breakers are on.
  • Try to turn on the function for the wire that’s not detected. For example, if the heating wire isn’t detected, try to turn on the heating, and then check if the wire is now detected.

If you previously disabled the Nest Power Connector, you’ll need to re-enable it.

  • On your Nest Thermostat, select Settings
    • Equipment.
  • Select Power Connector
    • Power status.
  • Select Enable
    • Continue
    • Done.

If the issue continues after performing all these troubleshooting steps I recommend calling one of our Professional installation and service.

Feel free to keep us posted if you have more questions.

Regards,

Gabriela

I am having the identical issue and none of the Google remediation advice is working.  It appears that the Nest Power Connector is not working at all.  No detectable power is being received that the Thermostat.  I have checked and reseated the wrining multiple times.
