Nest Protect

One of my nest thermostats beeps with good batteries..after 2 weeks or so; I have to take out the batteries (they are charged) and when I put them in again, it’s ready to go!!!  Why does it beep unexpectedly when the batteries are still good? after short period of time.

I a using the correct Lithium batteries.

They are out right now - if I put them in it will be ready only to beep after a short period of time.

Hello Trudijane,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

To clarify, are you having a power issue with your Nest Protect (smoke alarm) or the Nest Thermostat? For the Nest Thermostat, could you please share with us a photo of its wiring? Also, if you're referring to your Nest Protect, try to press the button to check the status. If it's not responding, reset it to default to bring it back to its default settings, then move the smoke alarm next to your router before adding it to the app.

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Mark

Hello everyone,

@Trudijane, just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, we would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let us know.

I appreciate the help, Jenelyn and Mark.

Thanks,
Emerson

It seems that my batteries (Energizer Ultimate Lithium); are fully charged (when I test them in my battery level) - yet -  it still starts beeping after about 2 weeks or so...when put the batteries in again - the same batteries I took out - the device is 'ready' again.

If the batteries are OK, why does it start beeping....both of them.

Hey Trudijane,

We appreciate you getting back to us and thanks for giving us this information. I would suggest you perform a safety check to your Nest Protect. Also, I wanted to confirm what is the light status of your Nest Protect while it's going off?

Give these steps a try:

If you have at least one 2nd gen Nest Protect in your home, you
can run a Safety Checkup with the Nest app.

1. Sign into your account in the app.

2. Select your Nest Protect on the home screen.

3. Tap Checkup at the bottom of the screen.

Hit this link for more information and let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Emerson
