I have enrolled in Nest Renew and configured my electricity provider and residential plan.
Sometimes the Nest will correctly pre-cool, then shift the temperature up one degree during peak use time. Usually, nothing.
I’m not changing anything; weekdays I’ve scheduled 78F at midnight, and pre-cooling goes to 77F, followed by 79F during expensive-energy time.
This makes for a bad experience; please, Google, don’t make me write an AWS Lambda to interrogate my thermostat and adjust temperatures to match a plan that you already know about and that I’ve already indicated I want to use. That seems silly.

Hey Chris_,
Sorry for the late reply. I wanted to follow up and see I could be of any help. I found an article with more details on the Rush Hour Rewards. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.
Best regards,
Jake

No, this isn’t Rush Hour Rewards. This is shifting to use cheaper energy. Different programs, and the Nest always fires in response to Rush Hours (as it is to the benefit of the utility company and Alphabet likely has an SLA to meet there).
“Sometimes the Nest will correctly pre-cool, then shift the temperature up one degree during peak use time. Usually, nothing.”
I’m talking about energy shift here.

Hi folks,
I'm sorry for the late reply. I know it has been a while but I wanted to ensure that everything is covered here.
Thanks for your help, @Jake.
@Chris__, only a few electric utilities offer the option of giving less costly energy a priority. Have a look at this article and let us know if you need more help.
Best regards,
Mark

Mark,
I am of course on a utility company and plan that Nest recognizes and supports. I’d not have reached out otherwise.
I am glad to report that it seems to have settled down and is correctly following my time-of-use plan and turning the thermostat up and down as-desired.
I just wish I could change the deltas. Maybe I want to go 4 degrees cooler in pre-cooling, and go 2 degrees warmer in the on-peak phase.
