Nest Renew how to get rid of this

New Renew and Rush Hour rewards is the most annoying thing ever on this product as it pops up sporadically.

ZERO interest, and I'm worried b/c it gets trickier and trickier by the UI design to try to trick you into accepting this as if its a favor to you... ( kind of like turning off mail and accepting email for bills ).

The button colors try to coerce/trick you into clicking it and I'm worried someone might accept it on the thermostat when i'm not there.

Hi Snuffles,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

We understand your concern regarding the notifications you receive on your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) from the Nest Renew and Rush Hour rewards program, but don't worry, we are here to guide you on how to cancel your subscription.

To provide you with better guidance, please answer this question:

  • Are you using a Nest Renew Premium or a Nest Renew Basic?

The purpose of the Rush Hour Rewards program is to help you earn rewards for saving energy during peak demand periods while still keeping you comfortable. Your Nest thermostat will automatically tune temperatures during a rush hour to reduce energy use and lower grid costs. You don’t have to worry about when the next Rush Hour is coming or remember to adjust the temperature. Rush Hour Rewards does it for you. And if you ever get uncomfortable, simply change the temperature on your thermostat.

The rewards you’ll earn, when you’ll be notified of a Rush Hour, and other details all depend on your energy company, so check with them for specifics. Here are some examples of how your energy company may pay you:

  • Most energy companies offer a reward for each season you participate. They may also provide others incentives to enroll, such as discounts or a thermostat at no additional charge.
  • Some energy companies will give you a credit on your electric bill.
  • Some energy companies will reward you per rush hour. These companies calculate how to reward you by comparing your energy use during Rush Hour to the amount of energy you normally use.

Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Virna
