Nest THERMOSTAT offline COLD

Help! I did a factory reset on my nest and have been trying to connect it as a device on my Google Home app. It gets to the testing phase and goes no further. The screen of my nest only says “continue set up in the Google Home app”. I’ve been working on this for a few hours and it’s starting to get pretty cold in here. I would like to check to make sure they are on the same Wi-Fi network, but my nest does not react to my touch at all. Help

Once we were back online we tried a reset and this is the same exact thing ours says! We just got the thermostat in October from Amazon AND what a pain in the *** to try and get help! Its past the window tp return to Amazon. We had to just go purchse a thermostat from the hardware store. Its freezing in Michigan!  Does? T-Mobile happento be your WIFI carrier?

Hi there,

Thanks for posting in the community! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest thermostat goes offline after a factory reset, and you're now unable to reconnect it to the Google Home app, especially during the winter. Help's here!

Since you mentioned that the testing screen doesn't progress, and you're seeing the message "Continue setup in the Google Home app" on the thermostat screen, it seems like you have a Nest Thermostat or a Nest Learning Thermostat 4th Gen. Could you please confirm which model you have? Here’s a helpful article about how to identify your thermostat model.

In addition, I’d like to ask for the following information:

  • Did you get any error code during the setup process, or is it just stuck in the testing phase?
  • How far away is the thermostat from the router?
  • Have there been any recent changes to the network and/or equipment?
  • Are there other devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the thermostat? They could be interfering with the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signal.

For additional help, visit our easy troubleshooter for guided steps.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
