Nest Temp Sensor won't connect

I installed a Nest Connect for my Yale lock, and ever since then my Google Temperature Sensor doesn't work. I tried changing the batteries, but it still won't connect. I also tried removing the Sensor and reinstalling it, and it won't connect to the Nest Thermostat (3rd Gen).

Hello Ycmford,

Thank you for reaching out and bringing to our attention the connectivity issue you are experiencing with your Nest Temperature Sensor after installing the Nest Connect for your Yale lock.

Let's troubleshoot this together.

  1. Ensure that your Nest Thermostat is connected to the Wi-Fi network. Try restarting it in the settings and attempting to add the temperature sensor.
  2. The Nest devices both operate on wireless signals. Check for any potential sources of interference, such as other electronic devices or thick walls, that might be affecting the connectivity. Try relocating the Nest Temperature Sensor beside the thermostat before adding it to the Nest app.
  3. Perform a factory reset on the Google Temperature Sensor. Remove the batteries and leave them out for at least 5 minutes.
  4. Reset the Account Connection on your thermostat. Go to Settings > Account Connection > Reset. This will unlink your thermostat to the account and disconnect it from the network.
  5. Proceed by adding it back to the Nest app.
  6. Attempt to pair the sensor again with the Nest Thermostat.

I hope this helps, and your Nest devices get back to working seamlessly together.

Best regards,
Mark

Hello Markjosephp, what you said is in the Nest Thermostat itself, no in the app? is this true?

Hi jcmarianacci,

Thanks for stopping by. Yes, the Nest Thermostat device itself. The Nest Temperature Sensor relies on the thermostat's connectivity. If it happens that it drops its network connection, the sensor will disconnect as well. So if the sensor still doesn't reconnect after a series of steps, restarting or resetting the thermostat's Account Connection would help.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Best,
Mark

Hello! I wound up uninstalling and reinstalling the Nest Thermostat, then installing the Nest Sensor and it worked. As an aside, I've had so many issues with everything since I installed Nest Connect (now my cameras are acting up!). I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling them to the app as well.

Hey there,

Awesome! I'm glad to hear that reinstalling the Nest Thermostat and adding the Nest Temperature Sensor resolved your initial issue. It's unfortunate to hear about the troubles with Nest Connect causing problems with your cameras. Reinstalling them on the app might indeed help stabilize their performance. If the issues persist, let us know so we can further check them as well.

Regards,
Mark
